Being Crafty!!

Filed under: General — Lexie Apodaca @ 11:02 am

Well, I forgot to write last night because Aaron went to play basketball with his buddies while Haylee and I stayed at home and watched a movie. I watched Elizabethtown. It stars Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. It is such a good movie, if you haven’t seen it, I suggest you do. Aaron had a really great time playing basketball, but because he hadn’t played in so long, he got really tired and today he says he is pretty sore! I am glad he had a good time though.

Last weekend, I had the great day to make Haylee some onsies. At my baby shower, we made some for her, so I decided it was time to make her some more. Aaron and I really don’t like most of the baby clothes out there, they are too frilly and kind of ugly!! We like to dress her like a real person! She has some blue jeans, some courderoys, and 2 dresses. Let me tell you, she has tons of shoes!! She is like her mommy (and daddy!) in that way. She has 8 pairs now and 2 that she has outgrown. I love to spoil her, so I am hoping that our next baby will also be a girl!! I have taken some pictures of her shoe collection and also of her onsies that I made.

I think there is something I should explain about 2 of the onsies. One of them says, “Smile emo kids.” I had no idea what an emo kid was until about a month ago. What I understand they are are kids that are mad at the world but they don’t want to committ suicide, which is a good thing. They dress in very tight jeans, girls and boys, they wear weird t-shirts sometimes with rock bands on them or cartoon characters, shrits that you could get mostly from Hot Topic. They wear their hair somewhat long and their bangs swooped across their eyes. They have black thick rimmed glasses and wear Converse All-Star shoes. The reason her onsie says that is because they are so sad. We just want them to cheer up.

Her other onsie that I want to explain is one that says “My lovely baby bumps…” on the front and on the back it says “Check it out!” If you have not heard the song, it is The Black Eyed Peas. The lady is talking about her body. She is a curvy lady and she is talking about her “lovely lady lumps.” We didn’t want to put that , but we wanted to make a really funny one. I really have a good time making onsies for her. I think ones you make are better because they are more personal. You can make them the colors you want and make them say whatever you want. I think all mothers should do this for their children at some point or another, no matter how old they are!!!

I am going to jump in the shower and get ready for my eye appointment. We moved it up to today rather than Saturday because we would like to leave tomorrow morning than in the afternoon. I hope you all had a great day yesterday and have a really great one today! Check out my picture album! God Bless!!!

Texas Road House

Filed under: Aaron, General — Lexie Apodaca @ 11:16 pm

Today was a really good day for me. I did the usual routine in the morning and afternoon. Aaron got a phone call from his best friend Josh. Aaron used to live here about 8 years ago and they used to hang out all the time. Josh moved to Oregon to finish up college, so while he was down here visiting, he wanted to see us. He and a bunch of his buddies met us at Texas Road House for dinner. We were also celebrating his other friends 21st birthday since we missed his party on Sunday. It was a lot of fun. Maybe just a bit too loud for the baby, but we kept it under control. Aaron has some really great friends. They are so polite and they just love Haylee. They are going to go play basketball tomorrow night, so that should be really fun for him. He is like me, we don’t get out much. It will be nice for him to get out with his guy friends and play a little b-ball. I think Haylee and I will be home watching a movie.

I am really excited because Josh’s sister teaches a Pilates class. I have been wanting to get out of the house and do some sort of excercise. It will be nice because it will give Aaron and Haylee some alone time. I am trying to get my body a little bit more in shape. I am finally below my prepregnancy weight!! It might have taken 5 months, but it is gone. I just really need to work out and tone everything up. I have to say that I am very proud of Aaron. He has been struggling for so long to gain weight. He has always weighed about 110-113 the whole time we have been together. It made me kindof self concious because I was around 115-118. He has been drinking this shake that has a lot of protein and a lot of calories 2Xs a day and he has gained 8 pounds in the last 3 weeks. He officially weighs more than me as of last night!! He is 119 and I am 117. He is only wanting to get up to about 135. He would be so happy. I am glad that that is working for him.

So, in yesterdays blog, I mentioned that I was going to get my drivers permit today, but that didn’t happen. :( Here in New Mexico you have to take a DWI course before you are allowed to get permitted or liscenced. You have to take the course, take the written test, then wait in the mail for the DWI certificate to come in the mail, then you can take the road test. It is a huge pain the butt. I thought I would be smart and go to Arizona to get my liscence then come here to get it renewed here in New Mexico, but you can’t do that. If you have not had a liscence here, you have to take the course. I am so frustrated!! I am wondering if it is ever going to happen!!!!

Well, I guess I should be getting to bed. I hope you all have a great day!! God Bless!0:)

A New Discovery

Filed under: General, Haylee — Lexie Apodaca @ 11:14 pm

Ok, this is my third time attempting to get this published!! For some reason, maybe because I am typing in the dark, but I keep going to a different page, then when I go back, everything is gone!! UUGGGHHHH!!! This time I am making this short and sweet!!

Today was a normal day for me. I woke up, ate breakfast, watched The Price is Right, got Haylee and I showered and ready for the day, had lunch with Aaron, cleaned up the house and made sure that Aaron has clothes ironed for tomorrow, then waited for him to come home for the night so he could take Haylee and I somewhere to get out of the house. We decided to go to Target since we needed diapers and dog food. I will tell you about our dog another day. Anyways, while we were there, we came across this thing called a Bumbo. It is a neat little thing for babies that need a little help with learning how to sit up. You can use it from 3 months on up to 14 months. We are hoping it will help Haylee learn a little faster how to sit up. Everytime we try to sit her up, she wants to play with her feet. I am almost wondering if her legs are a little too short. She has a normal sized torso, but I think her legs are short. I guess if you look at her parents, it would explain it. I am 5′2” and Aaron is 5′6”. She is bound to be little!!

The rest of our evening was good, we made chocolate chip cookies together, Aaron cut his hair, then we watched Law and Order SVU. Aaron is fast asleep and Haylee is trying to do the same. She fell asleep on his arm but he rolled over so she woke up. I seem to be a night owl. Even if it is dark and quiet, I will be awake ’till around 12 or 1 AM. I guess since it is only 11:15, I can tell you all about my doggie. He is a miniature dachaund AKA a weiner dog. Actually, he is a dwarf dachaund, he only weighs 8 pounds. He is adorable though. His name is Bear. He looks tiny and innocent, but you play rough with him and he thinks he is a pitbull or something!! It is hillarious. He is mostly an outdoor dog, but every now and then I will let him in the house. I think once we get the backyard landscaped, he will mostly be inside. Hopefully in the next few months it will get done. We have already gotten started on the inside with a little bit of paint in the living room and the master bathroom and putting down some slate looking flooring in the 2 bathrooms. We are going to put down wood pergo all throughout the house except in the office and Haylees nursery. I am so excited for that. It will help the house stay cooler during the summer when it is about 115 degrees outside!!! Aaron would like to put some grass in the front yard and backyard, so he wants his dad to come down over a weekend and help him put in sprinklers. I am going to put a garden in the backyard. That is something that Haylee can help me with. We are making a little area for her also. She is going to have a big sand box with a swing set in it. She is our first, so of course she is spoiled!!

Well, I think that should do it for now. I feel I have been rambling for too long now. I hope you all had a great day today and have an even better one tomorrow! God Bless.

My Very First Blog!

Filed under: General — Lexie Apodaca @ 9:24 pm

Well, this is very excititing for me! I have been reading my dad’s blog as well as some other family members for a long time now, and never knew how to get one of these things! I have to say THANK YOU so much to my Unlce Kay for getting all of this set up for me. You are great!

I am a little confused about what to write about on my first entry, so I guess I will just start out with my family. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world, Aaron. We met in high school at band camp!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah, I can hear all of the snickers and giggles already! He was the drum major (the one that conducts the band) and I was the section leader of the alto saxophones. I can’t really say it was love at first sight since the first thing he ever said to me hurt my feelings, but look at us now!!! We dated for almost 3 years before we got engaged. We were planning on getting married after he finished college, but due to a medical issue that he had, he could no longer finish his major. He got a job out in Tucson, Arizona, so we decided that we would get married. We didn’t want to be apart from each other, but we also didn’t want to live together without being married, so we decided we would move the wedding date up….way up!! We were married on December 11, 2004. I was able to move in with him out in Tucson and we loved it. Aaron is absolutly amazing at his job, so about 1 month after he started his job, he was promoted. We enjoyed our time in Tucson, but Aaron got ANOTHER promotion. That moved us here, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. We are very blessed to own our very first home. We are in a brand new neighborhood where they are still building around us. We were the 3rd or 4th people to move into our house on our street! We are hoping to find some friends out here. We are thinking that as the weather gets warmer and warmer, we are sure to meet some of our neighbors.

I guess I left out one the most important additions to our family!! On October 23, 2005, Haylee Diann was born. She was 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 18 and 3/4 inches long. She is an amazing baby! She is growing like a weed and is melting our hearts more and more everyday. She amazes me with how much she has learned. She just turned 5 months on March 23rd and she can roll over both ways, hold her head up very sturdy and she is babbling like crazy! She is getting better at sitting up, but has not quite mastered that. She can sit in her highchair and eat oatmeal and cereal. She loves green beans!! She likes to grab faces, especially noses and glasses! She is the best thing that has ever happened to Aaron and I.

Well, I guess you are all updated for now. I am sure that if I think of anything, I will let you all know. I will also be posting some pictures of us so you can all see how much we have changed over the years, I just have to figure out for sure how to do that!!! I look forward to hearing your comments! Have a God-filled day!
